The Love of God

The Love of God

The Love of God is a sermon teaching us that God is love and that we are to share God’s love with others so that they can know God’s love.

There is abundant evidence in our universe that we have a designer/creator. Things are too complex for it to be coincidence or an accident. There are people who believe there is no God. Some genuinely believe that while others are simply angry with God and place themselves above the designer/creator of the universe.

A Matter of Faith

There is a God and He loves you. It is a matter of fact and moreover, it is a matter of faith. We must come to know God and please God through faith. First, we must believe there is a God. Second, we must believe He is a rewarder of all who believe Him — He rewards our belief. We can’t have a relationship with God unless our sins are forgiven. God wants a relationship with us.

How does God reveal Himself to us? Jesus is the revelation of God. He makes us know Him through His word. He was God’s love made manifest to us. We have hope in God and we are not ashamed of our sin because we are forgiven. The love of God is shed abroad by the Holy Spirit in our hearts. Man can give his life for another person, but God commended His love toward us so that Jesus died for our sins. Jesus died for the apostles who fled after His arrest, for the Romans who arrested and tortured Him. He died for all who love and hate Him. Know that everything that is sin in God’s sight is what He died for.

The Source of Love

We can be saved from the wrath of God by the love of God. We ought to love each other because of the love of God. God is the source of love. God is love. God’s love was made visible in Jesus. Mary, the sister of Lazarus, witnessed Jesus during his ministry and after His resurrection. God’s love was made visible in His only begotten son which leads us to the prophecy of Christ so that we might live through Him. Mary saw Him and believed that He was the Messiah.

Herein is love, not that we love God but that he loved us first while we were sinners and sent His son to pay for our sins so that we can be the children of God. We perceive the love of God by giving our life for another. Every day we have what we need in this life but others may not and we are to supply their need. Evidence of God’s love is that He dwells in you. Here is the love of God — to be born again. Whoever believes Jesus is the Savior, the Messiah, is born of God. We trust that He paid for our sins. Love God and the children of God; this shows our love of God.

Message of Hope

We keep His commandments because we love Him and He loves us. His commandments are not grievous Who can separate us from the love of Christ? Nothing can extract us from the love of God. We are more than conquerors — we take the message of hope. No death, power, authority, things present or to come, nor height nor depth — we cannot be separated from the love of God.

Ask yourself these questions:

Do you know God loves you?

Do you love God?

Do you love your neighbor as yourself?

Do you love your neighbor enough to tell them about the love of God?

The main problem people have is that they are separated from God. We need to tell them about the love of God. We need to be busy doing God’s work and take it one step at a time. And we must know that the love of God is with you. Our work begins when we accept the love of God.

The Love of God sermon starts with verses from I John 4:7-10:

7 Beloved, let us love one another: for love is of God; and every one that loveth is born of God, and knoweth God.

8 He that loveth not knoweth not God; for God is love.

9 In this was manifested the love of God toward us, because that God sent his only begotten Son into the world, that we might live through him.

10 Herein is love, not that we loved God, but that he loved us, and sent his Son to be the propitiation for our sins.

Hebrews 11:6:

6 But without faith it is impossible to please him: for he that cometh to God must believe that he is, and that he is a rewarder of them that diligently seek him.

John 6:47:

47 Verily, verily, I say unto you, He that believeth on me hath everlasting life.

Romans 5:5-9:

5 And hope maketh not ashamed; because the love of God is shed abroad in our hearts by the Holy Ghost which is given unto us.

6 For when we were yet without strength, in due time Christ died for the ungodly.

7 For scarcely for a righteous man will one die: yet peradventure for a good man some would even dare to die.

8 But God commendeth his love toward us, in that, while we were yet sinners, Christ died for us.

9 Much more then, being now justified by his blood, we shall be saved from wrath through him.

Titus 3:4:

4 But after that the kindness and love of God our Saviour toward man appeared,

I John 3:16:

16 Hereby perceive we the love of God, because he laid down his life for us: and we ought to lay down our lives for the brethren.

I John 4:16:

16 And we have known and believed the love that God hath to us. God is love; and he that dwelleth in love dwelleth in God, and God in him.

I John 5:1-3:

1 Whosoever believeth that Jesus is the Christ is born of God: and every one that loveth him that begat loveth him also that is begotten of him.

2 By this we know that we love the children of God, when we love God, and keep his commandments.

3 For this is the love of God, that we keep his commandments: and his commandments are not grievous.

John 3:1:

18 He that believeth on him is not condemned: but he that believeth not is condemned already, because he hath not believed in the name of the only begotten Son of God.

Romans 8:35:

35 Who shall separate us from the love of Christ? shall tribulation, or distress, or persecution, or famine, or nakedness, or peril, or sword?
