Self-Defense Class
Based on the Bible
The Valour School of Self-Defense
Self-defense class is held every Tuesday and Thursday evening, 6:00 p.m. – 7:00 p.m., at West Park Baptist Church.
The name “Valour” comes from a Hebrew word found in Joshua 1:14, meaning courage with honor and strength with virtue.
The class is a comprehensive martial arts curriculum that develops the body through exercise and physical technique; the mind through learning history and philosophy, as well as research; and the spirit through memorization of Scripture, Bible instruction, and encouragement toward spiritual growth and service.
The Valour School of Self-defense stands without apology for its belief in Jesus Christ as the only begotten Son of God and the only Savior of mankind, and in the Bible as God’s revelation to mankind of Himself, His plan, and His purpose.
Student Benefits
Students advance in knowledge, skill, and ranking. They also have the opportunity to participate in tournaments and Gospel Martial Arts Demonstrations, if they choose.
The classes are led by Dr. Michael L. McClure, who has trained thousands of students from beginner levels to black levels. He has frequently served as an instructor at martial arts seminars and given Gospel Martial Arts Demonstrations in Alabama, Florida, Georgia, Indiana, New Mexico, South Dakota, Tennessee, Vermont, Japan, and the Philippines. He is recognized as a Master Instructor by several martial arts organizations.
There is NO FEE for the classes. Donations are accepted (there is no minimum or suggested donation). All donated funds are used to cover the operating expenses of the class (building use, utilities, and class supplies). All funds go to the West Park Baptist Church. Instructors are not paid.
